Over the past decade, the SBC Board has closely monitored growth and recognized the need for expansion and improvements. In anticipation, they diligently worked to achieve a series of pre-campaign goals, including occupancy targets, policy revisions, budget objectives, staffing needs, expansion camps, aesthetic improvements, equipment upgrades, local government compliance, debt retirement, and enhancements to the wastewater treatment system. This ambitious undertaking required millions of dollars, and by God’s grace, it was successfully completed within a seven-year timeframe.
With these foundational goals accomplished, the board soon shifted its focus to launching the Journey of Hope campaign. In March 2023, Jim Neustaeter - who previously led the Journey of Faith campaign - was hired as the Campaign Manager to oversee this next phase. His efforts have been dedicated to working with local government, securing necessary permits, and laying critical groundwork, including various assessments, tests, and blueprint drafts, culminating in CRSD approving our Development Permit for all 3 Phases of the JoH Campaign.
Fundraising efforts have been ongoing, with significant pledges already committed. All of this preparation leads to the official campaign launch on April 6, 2025 - a milestone moment as we step forward in faith, trusting God’s provision for the future.

LATEST UPDATE:
HVAC and electrical engineers are finalizing their reports, which will help us move forward with the gym addition building permit application by the end of March. Please pray for wisdom, efficiency, and favour in this process.
Never before has Sunnybrae attempted a capital campaign of this magnitude, but with God’s leading, we are confident of reaching and even surpassing our goal. If everyone welcomes this challenge of faith and responds generously, Sunnybrae Bible Camp, by God’s grace, will be strengthened, and we will accomplish our mission. The time is now for parents, grandparents, alumni and supporters to respond to this challenge of acting on this hope we have. Every family or individual associated with the camp will be invited to make a financial pledge to the campaign over a five-year period. Faith promises pledged over this period will enable the board to plan our long-term financial needs effectively.
Our camp board policy is to proceed with each phase when we have 50% of the funds in hand and the other 50% pledged. The camp is a community of Christian stewards who know that they have been entrusted with the responsible management of God’s affairs within the camp. We manage the camp to accomplish God’s will, and we want to do so both in faith and in wisdom.
Your financial gift will translate into an asset that will equip our children and families for life. It is a gift that will continue giving, long after it has been made. The key to our Journey of Hope Campaign is sacrificial giving, which will mean something different to each person. To some, a gift of even moderate size will represent a sacrifice, and in other cases, a larger, more substantial gift will be possible. “Equal sacrifice, unequal gifts” is the foundation for giving to this campaign. We invite you to join us in this renewal and expansion project to progress Sunnybrae Bible Camp's future impact. Come along on our Journey of Hope!
Phase 1: Gymnasium Addition
includes workout gym, washrooms & shop
$750,000
We plan to expand the existing gymnasium (left side, when facing the building) by adding a building on the right side (lower portion, pictured with a flat roof). The addition would feature change rooms on the lower level and an equipped workout gym on the upper floor. The back portion would serve as Shop space, with access from the compound already existing to the rear of the building. Permission was received in June 2024 to build, as it is partly in the ALR.
goal Completion date: 2025

Phase 2: 6-Plex Cabin
$550,000
We plan to demolish the existing Cabins 20 and 21 and build this 6-Plex in a similar location. These two cabins have served the camp well for decades and currently still house our male summer staff and SALT boys in the summer months. To say they are tired is an understatement. The 6-Plex would provide Summer Staff and SALT housing and would be winterized and heated, with a full bathroom in each to allow them to be serviceable to Millar & Sunnybrae in the Winter months. A survey was completed in July 2024 to accurately locate all proposed new buildings in relation to existing buildings and property lines and to eliminate the need for a steep slope assessment.
Goal completion date: 2026

Phase 3: Worship Centre
plus lodge rooms, meeting spaces & offices
7.775 Million
Currently, our chapel services are held outdoors, which not only exposes us to the challenges of weather-related disruptions but, more importantly, places us in violation of local noise laws. Should action be taken, the camp could be shut down altogether. The lack of a proper indoor worship facility has other detracting implications, including having to move into inadequate spaces during inclement weather, which limits seating available. Meanwhile, the current outdoor space, while beautiful on a sunny day, is wildly distracting for campers, with people passing by and animals buzzing, barking, flying and chattering all throughout.
Additionally, this expansion would provide much-needed office & meeting space on the second and third floors, plus housing for our female summer staff who currently live in the basement of the old Heritage Chapel. For the 2 to 4 months that they serve in the spring/summer, our seasonal staff do not have any facilities in their accommodations – no water, toilets, or showers. Rather, they go across the property to the wash house. The new building will provide proper housing for staff, allowing us to care for them, show our appreciation for their ministry, and equip them to serve the camp effectively.
We believe this expansion will significantly enhance our ability to proclaim the gospel in our region. Our heartbeat is to serve our Lord well through our ministry to the children and families who attend our camp, to all the staff who work here, and to the students who are trained here.
Goal completion date: 2030
